Our team is a group of students from Pine Rivers State High School, who spend our weekends and time working on this great project. After participating in the Australian National Finals in Adelaide, we managed to take out National Champions! This allows us to represent Australia in Abu Dhabi for the World Finals.

Fair Dinkum 4X4 has 6 members including Brodie Crouch (Team Manager), Lucas Stephens (Design Engineer), Jackson Poole (Graphic Designer), Paris Solman (Design Engineer), Gemma Arkell (Design Engineer) and Reilly Searle (Sponsorship Manager).

Our team focuses on innovation and sustainability, and we have managed to incorporate this in nearly all aspects of our design, from recycling timber used to built our pit display and using a lightweight aluminium chassis to reduce our carbon footprint.

The Land Rover 4x4 in Schools programme is aimed at young people aged 11 – 19 years old and involves four to six team members. It sets out to raise awareness, interest and enthusiasm in STEM subjects through the practical application of design and technology, mathematics and science. Teams are tasked to design and build a remote controlled scale-model four wheel drive all-terrain vehicle capable of taking on a tough test track – to negotiate obstacles and challenging road surfaces including water dips, a rope bridge, and rocks on a bespoke Land Rover track replicating the capabilities of a full scale 4x4 vehicle. The teams also have to present their work and knowledge of 4x4 vehicle design to a panel of judges via a portfolio, verbal presentation and pit display.
